Initially I was thinking why I was interested to stay with clay because of varied reactions from other visual artists. Therefore, I try to start from the material of ceramics and think about the innate character of ceramics, such as plasticity, hollowness, variety of textures, diversity of glaze and many different firing progresses. Obviously, there are special characteristics in ceramics which are totally different from other materials. Due to the ceramics’ characteristics I am interested in immersing in a silent conversation with the material which is about the material process, and that is a main reason for me to stay with ceramics for a long time. In short, the material of ceramics has lured me into the clay art field.
The idea of transitional space comes from the feedback of creating ceramics. Indeed, it is a dialogue between the material and myself. The meaning of transitional space is represented as transitional period in which things are changing from one position to another. Therefore, the transitional space is a connection between inner space and outer space and which has become the key manifestation in artworks because where inner and outer space meet, unexpected and interesting channels may appear.
